I was checking out Nic’s other comic, Free Mars, as I am wont to do during the day, and it got me to thinking about supplemental content. More specifically, I’m thinking about world-building. I have a very specific idea of how I want this universe to look, and one of the biggest things is how similar it should be to our own. The people act the same, the government acts pretty much the same, just advanced in years.
Obviously the main crux of this comic is the story and these characters. I have an amazing journey for all of them, and I cannot wait for you to go on it, but I feel like one of the fun peripheral parts of world-building is the additional content, the journal stuff that you never see that writers and artists create to get a sense of what that world will be like, that no one ever gets to see.
Free Mars has a great idea about how to introduce you to the world, and it gives me even some really fun ideas about what we might do in our corner of the universe. I’ll be honest: I wish other comics did stuff like Nic and information Dave are doing.
